A Strong Statement from the Next Generation
The WSL QS event in China delivered exactly what the future of surfing promises: progression, commitment, and young athletes stepping confidently onto the international stage.
Competing far from home, in unfamiliar conditions, and under real pressure, these surfers didn’t just show up — they proved they belong. For many, this event marked important milestones: first finals, first podiums, and clear signs that the next level is already within reach.
China wasn’t just another contest on the calendar. It was a proving ground.

PAJAR ARYANA: FIRST FINAL, NEXT LEVEL UNLOCKEDP
For Pajar Ariyana, the QS in China was a true breakthrough moment. Competing in a QS 4000, Pajar reached his first Pro Junior final — a major achievement and a clear indicator of his growth as an athlete. Traveling to China for the first time, adapting to new waves, new environments, and a high-pressure competitive setting is never easy, especially at a QS level.
Yet Pajar embraced the challenge. He stayed composed, trusted his surfing, and delivered heat after heat against a strong international field. The result wasn’t just about making the final — it was about proving to himself that he can compete at the highest QS level and belong there.
After the event, Pajar reflected that this result was less about placement and more about belief: believing in the process, trusting the work, and stepping forward with confidence.

TEDDY BILLE: PODIUM FINISH AND EYES ON 2026
Another standout performance in China came from Teddy Bille, who finished equal 3rd, securing a podium result in a highly competitive QS field.
The result confirmed what has been building steadily: Teddy’s consistency, focus, and upward trajectory on the international stage. But beyond the podium, it was his mindset that stood out most.
Focused, motivated, and already looking ahead, Teddy made it clear that this performance is only the beginning. With the 2026 Pro Junior season firmly in sight, the drive to improve is stronger than ever.
Strong support from sponsors, a tight crew, and the ability to perform internationally are all aligning. China wasn’t just a stop on the tour — it was a statement.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Events like the QS in China show exactly where surfing is headed. The next generation is not waiting — they’re stepping up now.
Performing on the international stage requires more than talent. It demands preparation, resilience, adaptability, and the ability to deliver under pressure. Pajar and Teddy showed all of that in China.
And this is only the beginning.
