Before you start…., let’s talk about movement prep.
I see a lot of riders either doing static stretches before a session — or just skipping the warm-up completely. Thing is, it might seem fine, but it’s not really doing you any favors. There’s a big difference between static and dynamic stretching.

Before a session or training, you want to move. You want to get your body prepped for action.
Static stretching is great — but it’s better saved for after your session, when your body needs to relax and recover.
Before you hit the waves, it’s all about waking up your muscles, getting your nervous system buzzing, and locking in your mindset.
Here’s a selection of movement prep exercises from Zig and Fin’s session, getting them ready for squats. These hip-focused moves activate key muscles and improve range of motion and flexibility for better performance. You can also incorporate them into your surf prep — before you hit the waves!
